Audiobook Release in 2025
I wanted my Substack subscribers to be the first to know that my introductory book on Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA), Rejected, Shamed, and Blamed, will be published in audiobook form - something many of my social media and content followers have been requesting since it was first published in 2020. The audiobook will be produced and published by Tantor Media.
Tantor is known for their high quality production and I was able to arrange for narrator approval, which was important to me. The audiobook will hopefully be ready for release sometime next year - I’ll of course announce its release here once it’s out.
Dream Group for Paid Subscribers
Dreams can hold valuable insights and can serve as a gateway to understanding ourselves better. In my personal and professional experience, being open to the wisdom of dreams can play a significant role in healing from dysfunctional and abusive family processes. After querying subscribers, there is enough interest in a Dream Group for me to be able to add this as a paid subscriber feature. This Wednesday I’ll be getting a post out to all subscribers with more information. The Dream Group will be launched via Chat on October 18th.
No Solicitation Reminder
Friendly Reminder - No Solicitation Allowed on the FSA Education Community Substack: It is important that subscribers are protected from solicitation and ‘fishing for clients’ within our community. Given the vulnerable space many FSA adult survivors are in when reaching out for support online, I have a ‘zero tolerance / no second chances’ policy regarding solicitation behaviors on this Substack. I’d therefore like to remind all subscribers of our ‘No Solicitation’ policy, as outlined in our Terms of Service:
To protect our subscribers, users who engage with subscribers in a manner that is designed to solicit business or donations (including attempting to use potential subscribers for their own professional or personal gain, e.g., pushing counseling or coaching services, online courses, paid forums, communities, donation links, etc) will be banned from this Substack. Using the FSA Education subscriber base in this way may also result in account termination.
If you receive a direct message that is soliciting services, posting donation links, or fishing for members or potential subscribers, please alert me of this by reporting the communication or comment, which you can do by clicking on the three horizontal dots to the right of the comment, reply, or message.

Therapist and FSA Education subscriber
, author of the Married to the (Narcissistic) Mob Substack, wrote an excellent article addressing open versus closed Family Systems. As Claire points out in her post, family dysfunction (including scapegoating abuse) thrives in closed family systems, as well as in families that are too open (without appropriate boundaries). I encourage you to check out Claire’s post, below:Free PDF from complex trauma expert Dr. Janina Fisher: I’ve had such strong and positive feedback from subscribers who carved out some time to read Dr. Fisher’s free PDF on connecting with ‘parts’ (“selves”) that I’m posting it here again in case you missed this recommendation last week: Learning to Love Our “Selves”
Substack Navigation Tips - How to Access ‘Chat’ Feature
On the Substack mobile app, you can access chats by navigating to the Home screen, then clicking on the double ‘talk’ bubble at the bottom of your screen to the right, as shown below:
Then look for my new Chat - you’ll see our group logo on the left:
On a browser, visit the home page of my Substack, then click on the single chat icon at the top right of your screen or click on ‘Chat’ from the main navigation menu. If you try to visit my Substack and are asked to Subscribe, ignore that and sign into Substack, then visit the Family Scapegoating Abuse Education site via the search icon.
If you aren't receiving Substack chat notifications, you can try these steps:
Check your app notification settings: Go to the profile tab, then tap the gear in the top right corner to access your settings.
Turn on notifications for a specific thread: Long-press on the thread and turn the toggle on.
Check your email notifications: Go to the subscription you want to manage, then under Notifications, uncheck the boxes for email notifications.
Substack Chat is a private space for subscribers to communicate with their publisher. Chat threads are triggered by push notifications, and don't appear on the publication homepage or send emails by default.
Turning Off ‘Show Likes on Profile’ Feature
We recommend in our Terms of Service that paid subscribers toggle the ‘Show likes on profile’ feature to ‘off’ (this applies only to post comment likes, not chat comments or replies) but some of you may have missed this request when signing up. You can turn off this feature by visiting your account settings, scrolling down to the ‘Privacy’ section, and toggling off ‘Show likes on profile’ - we include this recommendation in our Welcome email to new subscribers now as well.
