Independence Day Reflections & Monday's Livestream
A look back at the meaning of July 4th for FSA survivors; a reminder of an upcoming discussion with Dr. Simon Rogoff; and an invitation to check out my new Substack
Hey everyone,
I’m basically ‘off’ today but wanted to send out a post I did last year on alternate meanings of ‘Independence Day’ on July 4th for my U.S. subscribers. My international subscribers may also relate! I also included a reminder about my public Livestream this Monday, and a link to subscribe to my new ‘personal reflections’ Substack, The Inviolate Self.
You can access my Independence Day article at the bottom of this post.
Livestream this Monday: I’m excited to be hosting Dr Simon Rogoff, author of Narcissism, Trauma, and Celebrity here on Substack, this Monday, July 7th, at 12 pm PDT. We’ll be focusing on Narcissistic Family Systems, Trauma, and Recovery. My paid subscribers can enjoy engaging in a private live chat during the stream. If you’re on the Substack Mobile App, you can come on camera to ask us questions. The private Live Chat is NOT included in the recorded playback I send out later.
Dr. Rogoff brings a unique understanding to complex trauma and personality disorder recovery via his professional experience in the United Kingdom running a treatment program for the National Health Service (NHS) in London. This conversation promises to be thought-provoking as we examine narcissism as a survival strategy and explore why a child might gravitate toward the performing arts in response to being scapegoated by family.

The Inviolate Self - my new ‘personal reflections’ Substack: The Inviolate Self is a free, public Substack publication. I share personal reflections and original prose and poetry there. I gained the courage to ‘take off the clinical mask’ and speak in a more raw, authentic way via my community of subscribers here on Healing the Scapegoat Wound. Whether you are a free or paid subscriber, your comments and your engagement with my Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA) offerings inspires me to expand more openly into the ‘true me’ here on Substack every day. I hope my personal sharings can do the same for you.
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing my most personal post yet on The Inviolate Self. If you’d like to receive this post in your inbox or be notified of it via push notifications on the Substack Mobile app, you can subscribe for free here:
