This week’s affirmation focuses on the counter-therapeutic effect of weaponizing words, labels, and terms.

Ultimately, when we weaponize labels and terms and attack others with our words, we undermine our own well-being and perpetuate a cycle of harm.

While I realize it is not always possible to do with family members who scapegoat us or when feeling activated or ‘triggered’, working toward developing the ability to communicate in a respectful and humane manner allows us to foster positive relationships with other people in our life whom we choose to (or must) engage with, which can in turn promote mutual understanding and nurture personal growth.
