Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA) continues to gain global attention worldwide - Together we can make a difference as we work together to legitimize the painful experiences of FSA adult survivors
Rebecca you have catapulted my recovery to levels I never dreamed of. Thank you for having such a profound impact on me. I am sooooooooooooooooooooo...grateful!
Many thanks Rebecca for mentioning my substack. And thanks for this substantial publication you have built and for your observations and thoughts about these complex topics over the course of 2024!
Rebecca, thank you for being an inspiration and integral part of my healing journey. You’ve brought light upon the shadows of abuse and exposed the insidiousness it brings on us. Thank you for that light and the tools to help us all heal. Happy New Year and inner peace to you.
Thankyou more than I can say even though the process is so painful of helping me bring the threads of years of abuse as well therapy together. Much of my insight comes during my insight mediation in the style of Tara brach . That Together with the foundationof your insights . Prods and triggers and reminders of the fatal undercurrents of how one is treated so badly, yet accepts it as normal , is a powerful combi for cleansing and protecting myself from the my families behaviourak triggers of my infant and childhood continual abandonment and abuse
You're so welcome, Mike. Yes, this is the huge challenge in regard to healing from childhood trauma and abuse - especially 'invisible' (psycho-emotional) abuse: We are conditioned into the maltreatment. It re-shapes our sense of self and our identity. And, we rarely get any kind of social understanding or support; even the Mental Health system is way behind when it comes to systemic / family dysfunction and abuse. So it is no easy road. Here's to an enlightening and empowering 2025!
yes regretably - even the Mental Health system is way behind when it comes to systemic / family dysfunction and abuse. -but then psychology is still in its infant stages,a few decades only,,,as opposed to centuries old meditation techniques..,,so together psychologists (and I dont like the words clients) but for want of a better word, clients are bringing things forward gradually. I wonder what impact popular websites like " psychology today " would have in bringing FSA more attention?
I used to have an FSA feature on 'Psych Central' before it got sold. I thought of writing for 'Psychology Today' and may get an article out to them, now that I have peer-reviewed quantitative research to back up my original qualitative research. On the other hand, as is the case with Self-Help books, sometimes they want these articles and features to be filled with 'quick fix' tips, etc, and I have no interest in dumbing down my content or minimizing the reality of what it takes to even begin to recover from FSA - one of the reasons I walked away from some well known Mental Health publishers who offered me contracts and self-published my introductory book on FSA instead.
I totally get that rebecca....no dumbing down indeed,,,sounds like psychologists have similar impediments to musicians getting published..so crazy that they would even consider the need to edit an article on such deeply researched subject ...have a good day
Thank you for mentioning me and my Substack Rebecca! I’m so grateful to have met you for so many reasons. Looking forward to what 2025 will bring and congratulations!!
