Such a great road map for healing! I always appreciate that your writing is so straightforward and actionable. I've been attending an Iyengar yoga class that seems to be the beginnings of a somatic interventions in step 4. I often find myself crying during shavasana at the end of class. Do you recommend any other somatic practices that are particularly helpful with CPTSD?

Thanks, I appreciate your comment here, I do try to offer actionable steps, so important! Any kind of body movement practice. One of my subscribers makes dances out of her dreams, finding the right music to capture the emotions and then expresses them through dance. 5Rhythms can be very helpful - https://www.5rhythms.com/ - even meditative walking, 'breath walking' practice, running, screaming at the ocean where nobody can hear. I've had clients hit their bed mattresses with tennis rackets or go to one of those places where you can safely break glass. Be as creative as you wish - pounding clay can be a good one also! I find sitting in the hot tub helps me to release a massive amount of grief, even when I'm not consciously thinking of anything sad. Let me know what you come up with!

thank you for all of these ideas! I'm going to a batting cage this weekend with a friend to get some anger out. I hadn't thought of that as somatic healing but of course it is!

Oh yes, that's a very good one for the release of what I call 'righteous rage'. Kick boxing also.

You are a God-Send Rebecca 🙏 Never have I heard nor read such spot on accurate descriptions and appropriate summations of the FSA experience.

Thankyou so much for your insight, care, and sharing these tools and connections for Recovery with us.

There is no doubt in my mind you are saving lives by doing so. Granting hope and light when there was none.

At last, at last, this form of abuse is coming to light. Thankyou!! 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you, Daisy, yes, it's been 15 years of hard work, but finally the term I coined, and what it represents (an insidious form of systemic abuse), is being recognized. I now have peer-reviewed quantitative research on FSA published - a huge leap forward for all of us FSA survivors. Study here, in case you missed it when I announced the publication awhile back. 2nd peer-reviewed study in the works on FSA and Postpartum Depression (I'll be co-authoring this study with Dr. Balapala and his research team once again). It is subscribers like you who inspire me every day to keep going, even when the going gets tough. https://oapub.org/hlt/index.php/EJPHS/article/view/202/202
